OT Cyber Range Development and OT Security Assurance

Securing industrial systems (Operational Technology – OT) is becoming increasingly critical for the resilience of critical infrastructures. While traditional IT security receives broad attention, OT systems – such as industrial controllers, SCADA systems, and PLCs – often rely on outdated architectures that lack modern protection. The risk is further amplified as these systems are increasingly integrated into IP-based networks.

Our research aims to develop an OT-specific Cyber Range that enables realistic simulation of industrial environments and allows for the testing of both attack vectors and defense mechanisms specific to OT contexts. The platform will support various scenarios, including attacks against common industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, DNP3) and defense testing. This environment is designed to serve as a real-world project framework for university students and researchers, offering topics suitable for thesis work, student research or PhD-level contributions.
